THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT AND NATIONWIDE AGREE TO SPONSORSHIP EXTENSION THROUGH 2021

The Memorial Tournament, Nationwide and the PGA TOUR announced today a six-year relationship that begins in 2016 with the 41st playing of the Tournament, May 30 – June 5. The new agreement extends the partnership between the three organizations through 2021 and includes a significant purse increase, in addition to further Tournament enhancements.

There will be plenty of fresh, new faces at the 2016 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. The emphasis is on "fresh."

Until Graeme McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champion, emerged from a three-man playoff with the victory in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, in Mexico, the new PGA TOUR season belonged exclusively to young players who hadn't previously registered a victory.

Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that the 40th playing of the prestigious invitational, held June 1 – 7, 2015, raised $2 million for charitable organizations in central Ohio, including a record-setting $1,607,118.53 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital through an alliance with the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. Since its first playing in 1976, the Memorial has eclipsed $26 million in donations to central Ohio charities, with more than $14 million going to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

FINAL FIELD ANNOUNCED FOR THE 40TH PLAYING OF THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT PRESENTED BY NATIONWIDE

Dublin, Ohio – At 6:00 p.m. EDT Tournament Officials announced the final playing field for the 2015 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. World No. 2 Jordan Spieth leads a contingent of 120 players for the 40th edition of the prestigious invitational Jack Nicklaus started in 1976.

 

The list of entrants includes, in order, six of the top-10 from in the Official World Golf Ranking: No. 2 Spieth, No. 5 Jim Furyk (2002 Memorial winner), No. 6 Justin Rose (2010 Memorial winner), No. 8 Jason Day, No. 9 Rickie Fowler and No. 10 Dustin Johnson. The 2015 field also boasts 15 of the top-20 on the FedExCup points list and seven of the current top-10 on the PGA TOUR money list.

Former world No. 1 and 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott set to compete in the 40th playing of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide

Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that the Tournament has accepted the commitment of 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott to compete in the 40th edition of the Memorial June 1–7 at Jack Nicklaus’ world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.  

 

The Tournament has also accepted the commitments of four past Memorials winners: Major champions Ernie Els and Jim Furyk, seven-time PGA TOUR winner Matt Kuchar and Steve Stricker, who owns 11 TOUR titles. Also joining the field for the Memorial is 2013 PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner and the 15th-ranked player in the world, Patrick Reed.

Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that World Golf Hall of Fame member and five-time major champion Phil Mickelson will compete in the 40th playing of the prestigious invitational Tournament hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

 

The Memorial also has accepted commitments from three of the top young stars in professional golf: Rickie Fowler, recent winner of THE PLAYERS Championship, and three-time PGA TOUR winners Billy Horschel and Jason Day.

 

The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is June 1–7 at world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Dublin, Ohio – The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that 14-time major championship winner Tiger Woods has officially committed to returning to world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club, where he will try to add to his record five Memorial titles.

 

The 40th playing of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is June 1-7.

 

Woods, 39, will be making his 15th appearance in the prestigious invitational Tournament hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. His scoring average of 69.95 ranks No. 1 at the Memorial, as does his total earnings of $5,047,344 in this event alone. The Jupiter, Fla., resident has recorded victories in two of his last four starts at Muirfield Village, most recently in 2012 when his historic shot on the 70th hole, a chip-in birdie at the par-3 16th, vaulted Woods to his 73rd PGA TOUR victory, matching the career win total of Nicklaus. Woods has since increased his TOUR win total to 79, second all-time behind the 1984 Memorial Tournament honoree Sam Snead, who recorded 82 victories.

Dublin, Ohio – The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide hosted the fifth annual Legends Luncheon presented by Nationwide today, a unique, award-winning fundraiser that brings to life the alliance between the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. All proceeds of the Legends Luncheon directly benefit the young patients and families that Nationwide Children’s Hospital compassionately serves each day.

 

The goal of the Luncheon is to support advancement of research medical equipment and care in the areas of most need at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. To that end, this year’s Luncheon raised a record $1,000,000 for the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children’s Hospital alliance. The 2015 amount equals the largest single-year donation in the event’s history and brings the Luncheon’s five year total to $2.9 million.
