Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that the Tournament has accepted commitments from 2015 FedExCup champion and two-time major championship winner Jordan Spieth, five-time major champion and World Golf Hall of Fame member Phil Mickelson, and 2013 Memorial Tournament winner Matt Kuchar to compete in the 42nd edition of the Memorial May 29 – June 4 at Jack Nicklaus’ world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Spieth is coming off the second straight multi-win season of his career. He recorded 15 top-10 finishes in 25 starts during his 2014-15 campaign and joined Jason Day with five TOUR wins, including his first and second major championship titles at the Masters Tournament and U.S. Open, respectively. He also captured the FedExCup title. It was the first time since 2009 that a player recorded at least five wins in a season. Tiger Woods won six times that year. The last time more than one player recorded five wins in a season was 1952 when Jack Burke, Jr. (2009 Memorial Tournament Honoree) and Sam Snead (1984 Memorial Tournament Honoree) accomplished the feat. A Dallas native, Spieth, 23, produced eight top-10 finishes in 21 starts last season, including his seventh and eighth PGA TOUR victories. Spieth is currently No. 6 in the world and No. 7 in FedExCup points on strength of five top-10 finishes, including his ninth-career title at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He has been a member of two U.S. Presidents Cup teams (2013 and 2015) and two U.S. Ryder Cup teams (2014 and 2016) and has career earnings of $28,767,811. The 2013 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year all but swept the TOUR’s annual awards circuit in 2015, receiving the Jack Nicklaus Award as the PGA TOUR’s player of the year, the Byron Nelson Award for low adjusted scoring average (68.91) and the Arnold Palmer Award as the TOUR’s money leader. This will be Spieth’s fifth consecutive Memorial Tournament appearance. His best finish at Muirfield Village Golf Club came in 2015 when he shot a final-round 7-under-par 65 and tied for third. Spieth’s T-57 effort last year brought his Tournament scoring average to 71.13 and increased his Memorial earnings to $456,998.78.

Mickelson, 46, will be making his 17th start at this year’s Memorial. His first appearance came in 1991 as an amateur where he finished tied for 66th place. In his last 11 starts at the Memorial, dating to 1999, Mickelson has finished in the top-20 seven times. He withdrew due to injuries in 2007 and 2012 and finished T-20 last year with rounds of 68-69-69-72. His Memorial Tournament career earnings total $948,690.19 with a scoring average of 71.51. His best finish was a T4 outing in 2006. The World Golf Hall of Fame member and five-time major champion has been a member of a record 11 U.S. Presidents Cup teams and 11 U.S. Ryder Cup teams. Through 11 starts in the 2016-2017 season the Rancho Santa Fe, California, resident has recorded three top-10 finishes.  Mickelson is currently ranked No. 21 in the Official World Golf Ranking and No. 39 in FedExCup standings. On the strength of 42 career PGA TOUR titles he is ranked No. 2 in career earnings on the PGA TOUR with $82,714,987.

Kuchar, 38, is coming off a successful 2015-16 season with 10 top-10 finishes, including three third-place outings. He has continued to play well this season, recording two top-10 finishes over 14 events, including a T-4 finish at the Masters Tournament. Kuchar is ranked No. 20 in the world and stands No. 52 in FedExCup points. The TOUR’s leading money winner in 2010, Kuchar has career earnings of $38,903,341 to go with seven PGA TOUR titles. The Sea Island, Ga., resident has been a member of four U.S. Ryder Cup teams (2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016) and three U.S. Presidents Cup teams (2011, 2013 and 2015). The 2013 Memorial winner will be returning to Muirfield Village Golf Club for a 12th time. He has posted six top-10 efforts during that period, finishing T-4 last year. Kuchar’s Tournament scoring average is 70.24 and he has $2,806,994.16 in career earnings, which ranks fourth all-time at the Memorial.
