The Road to The Open Comes to the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday

The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday has been selected as one of 11 tournaments, and only three PGA TOUR events, to be featured on the Open Qualifying Series (OQS) for The 151st Open.

“We have created an exciting schedule of events which takes in many regions around the world and provides the chance for golfers to earn a place in The Open at Royal Liverpool,” Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, the executive director of championships at The R&A, said. “We are grateful to our colleagues at the professional tours for their support and look forward to seeing who emerges from each event to book a sought-after place in the Championship this year.”

The leading three players, not already exempt into The Open, who make the cut at the Memorial will earn places in The 151st Open at Royal Liverpool June 16-23, 2023. 

A total of 34 spots in the field will be available through the OQS. Kurt Kitayama, Harris English and David Reilly qualified earlier this month at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard in addition to six other spots being awarded through the Joburg Open and ISPS HANDA Australian Open. Of the remaining eight events on the OQS schedule the Asian Tour’s World City Championship presented by the Hong Kong Golf Club is the next stop at the end of March.
