The 49th playing of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday set to be contested the week of June 3-9, 2024
DUBLIN, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday announced today that the 49th edition of the world-renowned event founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus will be contested the week of June 3-9, 2024.
In conjunction with today’s release of the 2024 PGA TOUR schedule, next season’s the Memorial Tournament will move to the first full week of June and be featured as one of eight Signature Events on the PGA TOUR.
“Annually recognized as one of the more prominent tournaments in professional golf, we are looking forward to being further distinguished as a Signature Event going forward and welcoming the stars of the PGA TOUR to Muirfield Village Golf Club next June,” said Executive Director Dan Sullivan. “It will be a special week for our patrons featuring world-class golf, celebrating our 2024 Tournament honorees Juli Inkster and Tom Weiskopf, and continuing to raise significant charity dollars in Central Ohio and beyond, including our primary beneficiaries Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, in alliance with Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.”
As a Signature Event, the Memorial Tournament will offer a first place FedExCup points amount of 700 points (up from 550), and a $20,000,000 purse with a distribution to the winner of $4 million (20 percent). The Memorial will be one of three player-hosted tournaments among the Signature Events to feature a 36-hole cut (low 50 players and ties and any additional players within 10 strokes of the 36-hole lead).
The field size for the 2024 Memorial Tournament is expected to be approximately 70-80 players, comprised as follows:
- Top 50 in the previous season’s FedExCup standings
- Top 10 available and not otherwise exempt from current FedExCup standings (The Next 10)
- Top five available and not otherwise exempt FedExCup points earners from the swings leading up to each Signature Event (The Swing 5)
- If not exempt from the three categories above: current-year tournament winners and PGA TOUR members in the top 30 of the Official World Golf Ranking
- Four sponsor exemptions (PGA TOUR members)
- Jack Nicklaus Award winner for the previous season’s NCAA Division I National Player of the Year
