DUBLIN, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday announced today that the Tournament has officially accepted the entry of two-time reigning Masters Tournament champion Rory McIlroy to compete in the 2026 Memorial Tournament.
Also announced today, McIlroy will be joined by the newly minted winner of the 108th PGA Championship Aaron Rai, along with fellow major winners Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth and popular TOUR veteran Rickie Fowler.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is June 1-7 at Jack Nicklaus’ world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.
McIlroy, 37, continues to add to one of the most successful careers of his generation, highlighted by his six major championship titles and completion of the career Grand Slam in 2025 with a victory at Augusta National. He successfully defended that title in April, making him the fourth player to win the green jacket in back-to-back years, joining Nicklaus, Sir. Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods. A three-time winner of the Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA TOUR Player of the Year and the only three-time FedExCup champion, McIlroy will make his 14th start at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. He has finished inside the top 10 on five occasions at Muirfield Village Golf Club, with his best outing coming in 2016 when he tied for fourth place. His Tournament scoring average is 71.25 to go with career earnings of $2,379,384.50 following a T-15 finish in his last appearance in 2024.
McIlroy has captured more than one title in a season nine times in his illustrious PGA TOUR career and is coming off his second stretch of four consecutive multi-win seasons (2012-2016 and 2021-2025). Since turning professional in 2007, he has collected 30 PGA TOUR victories and ranks No. 2 in career earnings with $115,575,791. McIlroy is ranked No. 2 in the world and No. 8 in FedExCup points standings with five top-25 finishes over seven starts this season, including his Masters win, a runner-up at The Genesis Invitational, and a T-7 outing at last week’s PGA Championship. In addition to his two Masters titles, McIlroy’s major championship resume includes wins at the 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, and The Open and a second PGA title in 2014.
Rai, 31, captured his second PGA TOUR win and first major title with his PGA Championship victory on Sunday at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. He is the first Englishman to secure the Wannamaker trophy in the stroke-play era. Rai turned professional in 2012 and earned PGA TOUR membership for the 2021-22 season. His breakout year on TOUR came in 2024 with six top-10 finishes, including a T-2 effort at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and his first-career win at the Wyndham Championship. In 2026, Rai has recorded four top 25s, with two inside the top 10, including a fifth-place finish at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic. He is ranked No. 15 in the world and No. 24 in FedExCup rankings.
Schauffele, 32, returns for his ninth consecutive start at the Memorial Tournament, where he has become a consistent contender with seven top-25 finishes, including a career-best T8 in 2024. He finished T25 last year, which is his worst since missing the cut in his first appearance in 2018. His scoring average at Muirfield Village Golf Club is 71.8, and he has career Tournament earnings of $1,604,710.
Schauffele received PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year honors in 2017 after winning twice and has since added three more multi-win seasons to his resume. His most recent occurred in 2024 when he broke through with his first major title at the 106th PGA Championship after a record-setting 21-under-par performance at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. His second win that season came in the year’s final major at The Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland. Schauffele was the only player to finish inside the top 10 in all four majors in 2024. Winner of the Olympic gold medal in golf in 2021, Schauffele recorded his 10th PGA TOUR victory in 2025 and is currently ranked No. 8 in the world and No. 11 in FedExCup points rankings on strength of five top-10 finishes over 11 starts.
Spieth, 32, has recorded nine top-20 finishes in 13 starts at the Memorial Tournament, including six of his last seven. He collected his fourth top 10 last year with a T-7 to move his Tournament scoring average to 71.40 and his earnings to $2,725,228.77. Spieth’s best finish at Muirfield Village Golf Club was a T-3 in 2015 as part of his historic five-win PGA TOUR season that also included 15 top 10s, four runner-up finishes, his first two major titles at the Masters Tournament and 115th U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, the Jack Nicklaus Award as PGA TOUR Player of the Year, and the FedExCup title. The Dallas native finished inside the top 5 in all four major championships in 2015 with a solo second-place effort at the PGA Championship and T-4 at The Open Championship. Spieth captured his third major during the 2016-17 season at the 146th The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, and his 13th PGA TOUR title at the 2022 RBC Heritage. Spieth is ranked No. 47 in the world and No. 41 in FedExCup points with seven top-25 finishes this season. Spieth’s resume also includes the 2013 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year award.
Fowler, 37, enjoyed one of his most successful seasons in his 16-year professional career in 2022-2023. His eight top-10 finishes, which included his sixth PGA TOUR victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and a runner-up performance at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, led to more than $7.8 million in earnings and a No. 16 finish in the final FedExCup standings. The California native recorded three top 10s in 2025, including his last two starts of the season, and has continued that momentum in 2026 with four top-10 finishes through 12 starts – three of those coming at Signature Events highlighted by a T-2 finish at the Truist Championship. He is ranked No. 38 in the world and No. 19 in FedExCup points. Fowler will make his 17th consecutive start at the Memorial Tournament this June, where he has collected eight top-25 finishes, including five top 10s. He tied his best result with a T-2 effort in 2017, after claiming solo second place in his first Tournament appearance in 2010. His career earnings at Muirfield Village Golf Club amount to $3,314,689.00 and his scoring average is 71.69. The Oklahoma State Cowboy’s career highlights also include the 2010 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year award.
