DUBLIN, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday announced today that the Tournament has accepted the entry of World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler to compete in the 2026 Memorial Tournament in which he will attempt to equal the record of three wins in a row set by Tiger Woods from 1999-2001.
Also announced today, Scheffler will be joined at the Memorial Tournament by the reigning FedExCup champion Tommy Fleetwood, along with 2019 U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland and 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is June 1-7 at Jack Nicklaus’ world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Scheffler, 29, has been a dominant force on the PGA TOUR over the past four-plus seasons. Since joining the TOUR in 2019 he has amassed 81 top 10 finishes, including 61 inside the top five, hasn’t missed a cut since August of 2022, and has recorded 20 career TOUR victories – four wins in 2022, two in 2023, seven in 2024, with a second Masters title counted among them, and six in 2025 that included his third and fourth career major titles at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. He also won an Olympic Gold Medal in the Men’s Golf Competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Over 20 starts last year, Scheffler recorded 17 top-10 finishes, including 12 inside the top five. He was also named the Jack Nicklaus Award winner as the PGA TOUR Player of the Year for a fourth consecutive season. Scheffler joined five-time Memorial Tournament winner Tiger Woods as the only players to win the Jack Nicklaus award four or more years in a row. The Texas native once again statistically dominated the TOUR in 2025. He received the Byron Nelson Award for recording the lowest scoring average (68.13) for the third consecutive season, and led the TOUR in SG: Total, SG: Approach the Green, SG: Tee to Green and the Official Money list with over $27.6 million.
Scheffler is No. 2 in FedExCup points standings to go with his top position in the Official World Golf Ranking, joining Woods as only the second player to command the rankings for more than 100 consecutive weeks. Scheffler has not finished outside the top 25 this season, with five top 10s in eight starts, including runner-up finishes at the Masters and RBC Heritage to go with a victory at The American Express to kick off his season. He will make his sixth appearance at the Memorial where he hasn’t finished outside the top three in his last four starts – two third-place finishes to go with his back-to-back victories. Scheffler ranks No. 1 in scoring average at the Memorial with 70.41 and in career earnings with $10,099,820.
Fleetwood, 35, a fan favorite worldwide, enjoyed the best PGA TOUR season of his 16-year professional career in 2025 that included eight top-10 finishes, with seven in the top five. He won the FedExCup at the 2025 TOUR Championship, earning his first PGA TOUR title and finishing off the season at No. 1 in the FedExCup standings. Fleetwood followed 2010 Memorial winner Justin Rose (2018) as the second Englishman to win the FedExCup. In addition to Fleetwood’s TOUR title, he has captured nine international victories and recorded 49 top-five finishes, six of which were runner-up efforts with two of those coming in majors (2018 U.S. Open and 2019 The Open Championship) on the PGA TOUR. Fleetwood is currently ranked No. 7 in the world and No. 16 in FedExCup points on the strength of four top-10 finishes over seven starts. He will be making his fifth appearance at the Memorial Tournament where he has enjoyed back-to-back top-20 finishes in his past two starts. His best result came last year with a T16 finish.
Woodland, 41, earned an emotional fifth career PGA TOUR victory last month at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. It was his first win since capturing his U.S. Open title at Pebble Beach, and just his third start since publicly revealing in March of this year at THE PLAYERS Championship that he had been diagnosed with PTSD following brain surgery he underwent in September 2023. Woodland is the recipient of the 2025 PGA TOUR Courage Award. The Topeka, Kansas, native has two top 10 finishes this season and is ranked No. 45 in the world and No. 20 in FedExCup points. Woodland will be making his 14th appearance at this year’s Memorial Tournament, where he owns six top-25 finishes, including two top 10s, with his best finish a T4 in 2016. He also claimed solo sixth place in his first Memorial start in 2011. His scoring average at Muirfield Village Golf Club is 71.93 with earnings totaling $1,025,959.70.
Matsuyama, 34, recorded his breakout win on the PGA TOUR in 2014 with his victory at the Memorial Tournament. With the title, he became the Memorial’s youngest winner and first Japanese player to hoist the trophy. This year will mark Matsuyama’s 13th appearance at the Memorial Tournament, where he has enjoyed four top-10 finishes to go with $2,804,065 in earnings and a 71.55 scoring average. In 2021, Matsuyama became the first Japanese male to win a major championship with his victory at the Masters Tournament. He recorded back-to-back two-win campaigns the following two seasons and added another victory last year at The Sentry to bring his career PGA TOUR win total to 11. Matsuyama has grabbed six top-25 finishes this season over nine starts, including two top 10s, with a playoff loss at the WM Phoenix Open counted among them. He is currently ranked No. 15 in the world and No. 18 in FedExCup points.
