FINAL FIELD ANNOUNCED FOR THE 45th PLAYING OF THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT PRESENTED BY NATIONWIDE
The top-10 in FedExCup points and 62 major championship victories represented in stellar field
16 past Memorial Tournament winners set to compete
Dublin, Ohio – At 8:56 p.m. EDT Tournament officials announced the final field for the 2020 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide, headed by 2019 Masters champion Tiger Woods. The contingent of 133 players represents 62 major championship titles, and features the top-10 in FedExCup points, 2019 Memorial Tournament winner Patrick Cantlay, three-time major champion Jordan Spieth and Woods, a five-time Memorial winner.
The 2020 Memorial Tournament will be contested next week, July 14-19, in conjunction with the PGA TOUR’s adjusted tournament schedule due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This is the 45th edition of the prestigious invitational Jack Nicklaus started in 1976.
The list of top-10 players in the world rankings competing includes No. 1 Rory McIlroy (reigning FedExCup champion), No. 2 Jon Rahm, No. 3 Dustin Johnson, No. 4 Webb Simpson (No. 1 in FedExCup points), No. 5 Justin Thomas, No. 6 Brooks Koepka, No. 7 Bryson DeChambeau (2018 Memorial winner), No. 8 Cantlay and No. 9 Patrick Reed. Another prominent entry is world No. 67 Phil Mickelson, a five-time major champion and ranked second on the PGA TOUR’s all-time money list behind Woods.
A total of 16 past Memorial winners will be returning to Muirfield Village Golf Club next week. The list includes not only Woods, Cantlay and DeChambeau, but also K.J. Choi, Jason Dufner, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Matt Kuchar, Tom Lehman, David Lingmerth, Hideki Matsuyama, William McGirt, Carl Pettersson, Justin Rose, Vijay Singh and Steve Stricker.
