Country Music Superstar Eric Church to Headline 15th Annual Charity Concert Benefiting the Alliance of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Eat. Learn. Play. and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation
DUBLIN, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, an official PGA TOUR event founded and hosted annually by Jack Nicklaus, announced today that 2020 Country Music Association (CMA) Entertainer of the Year and 10-time GRAMMY nominee Eric Church will headline the 2022 edition of the Tournament’s annual benefit concert, Thursday, June 2, at KEMBA Live! in Columbus.
NetJets presents Eric Church at the IGS Energy Benefit Concert presented by City of Dublin is a private concert event benefiting the alliance of the Memorial Tournament presented Workday’s charitable partners, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Stephen and Ayesha Curry's Eat. Learn. Play., and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. Proceeds of the 15th annual benefit concert will support the Memorial Tournament Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nationwide Children’s and a number of local Nationwide Children’s programs harmonious with Eat. Learn. Play., which focus on ending childhood hunger, improving literacy and access to quality education, and providing safe places for all children to play and be active.
Since its inception, the benefit concert has raised more than $800,000 for Nationwide Children’s thanks to the continued support from NetJets, who joined the benefit concert in 2018; IGS Energy, now entering its 12th year as the concert’s title sponsor; and City of Dublin, which has backed the event from its start in 2007.
“Community and corporate support for the benefit concert has been tremendous through the years,” said executive director of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, Dan Sullivan. “The commitment of NetJets as our title sponsor has allowed the benefit concert to secure marquee entertainment like Eric Church. Its support, combined with that of IGS Energy, City of Dublin, and many more, has been instrumental in our mission to raise charitable funds for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which will be amplified in 2022 as we welcome the Eat. Learn. Play. as a collaborating charity partner.”
In June 2010, a charitable alliance was announced among the Memorial Tournament, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation for the benefit and advancement of pediatric care. Starting this year, Eat. Learn. Play. has been invited to join that shared vision, with the support, care, and growth of children anchored at the center of each campaign and event these entities jointly execute.
Advancing newborn critical care in the Memorial Tournament NICU is already evident with its family-centered environment that provides the highest quality of medical care for premature and sick infants. As part of the largest neonatal network in the country, the Memorial Tournament NICU is comprised of rigorously trained neonatologists, advanced practice nurses and therapists who utilize an interdisciplinary care approach to diagnose and treat patients suffering from complications of prematurity, complex birth defects, respiratory distress and metabolic diseases. This combined expertise makes the Memorial Tournament NICU at Nationwide Children’s one of the finest in the nation.
This is the inaugural year that Stephen and Ayesha Curry's Eat. Learn. Play. joins the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday as a collaborating charitable partner alongside Nationwide Children's Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. In part, this year’s proceeds will benefit Nationwide Children’s programs and services that share the mission of Eat. Learn. Play., which includes fighting to end childhood hunger, improving literacy and access to quality education, and providing safe places for all children to play and be active.
Eat. Learn. Play. is dedicated to unleashing the potential of every child, paving the way for amazing kids and opening doors to bright futures. Rooted in three of the most vital pillars for a healthy childhood— nutrition, education, and physical activity— Eat. Learn. Play. is working to ensure that every child in Oakland, Calif., and beyond, has access to the nutritious food they need to be healthy and thrive; resources to learn and love to read; and safe places and equitable opportunities to play. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Eat. Learn. Play. has partnered with nonprofits, restaurants, and other agencies to provide over 17 million meals and 10 million pounds of groceries to families in need.

About Eric Church: Eric Church spent the past year releasing new music at a relentless pace; sharing the results of a marathonsession during which he spent nearly a month writing and recording a song per day while sequestered in rural North Carolina – including his latest Gold-certified No. 1 “Hell of a View” and current Top 10-and-climbing single “Heart On Fire.” The resulting critically acclaimed and chart-topping three-part project, Heart & Soul, is available everywhere now.
Just as unique as Church’s approach to recording and releasing music is his tenacity on the road. During 2019’s Double Down Tour, Church played back-to-back nights of two unique shows in each market sans opening act, giving every city’s fans six-plus hours of his iconic music. The tour also featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans in attendance and became the first artist to sell out the venue with a solo lineup. Church also took to the field at Tampa Bay’s Raymond James Stadium in 2021 to perform the National Anthem with R&B star Jazmine Sullivan ahead of Super Bowl LV and has now returned to the road for his 55-city The Gather Again Tour, visiting full-capacity arenas for an in-the-round show in addition to a recent headlining spot alongside George Strait and Metallica during the ATLive festival at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He will also headline one-of-a-kind stadium shows at Milwaukee’s American Family Field in May and Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium in June.
A seven-time ACM Award winner, four-time CMA Award winner (including the 2020 award for Entertainer of the Year), and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, Church has amassed a passionate fanbase around the globe known as the Church Choir as well as a critically acclaimed catalog of music. His previous project, the Gold-certified Desperate Man, earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album (his third nod in the category). Prior releases include the Platinum-certified Sinners Like Me (“How ’Bout You,” “Guys Like Me”), Carolina (“Smoke a Little Smoke,” “Love Your Love the Most”) and Mr. Misunderstood (“Record Year,” “Round Here Buzz”), the Double-Platinum certified The Outsiders (“Like a Wrecking Ball,” “Talladega”) and the 3x Platinum-certified Chief (“Springsteen,” “Drink In My Hand”), as well as 30 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum certified singles.
