Know Before You Go

Admission Protocol

  • Prior to Arrival: Each individual who is credentialed and intends to arrive on property will be asked to take their temperature and review and answer the recommended CDC symptom questionnaire. If the temperature reading is 100 or higher and/or any of the questions are answered in affirmative the individual is asked to stay at home and seek medical advice.
  • Entrance Gates: Main Entrance, Entrances #6, #7, #8, #10, #12, #13, #15
  • Upon Arrival:
    • CDC Questionnaire: Upon arrival, all staff, volunteers, competition community, and spectators will be asked the recommended CDC symptom questionnaire. If any of the questions are answered in affirmative the individual is asked to leave the property and to seek medical advice.

      1) Within the last 14 days, have had close contact with someone who is currently sick with suspected or confirmed COVID-19?

      2) Are you currently experiencing any of these symptoms of Covid-19, as identified by the Center for Disease Control (CDC)?

      • Fever or chills
      • Cough
      • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
      • Fatigue
      • Muscle or body aches
      • Headache
      • Hew loss of taste or smell
      • Sore throat
      • Congestion or runny nose
      • Nausea or vomiting
      • Diarrhea
    • Temperature Readings: FDA approved temperature readers will be deployed at each of the Tournament entrances and utilized by attendants to capture the temperatures of all who enter the property. If the temperature reading is 100 or higher the individual will be isolated and administered a second reading. If the temperature once again measures 100 or higher the attendee will be asked to leave the property and to seek medical advice.
    • Masks: Non-Surgical masks will be required upon entry to the property for all attendees, with exempted exceptions recognized. Attendees will be invited to bring their own mask or issued one upon arrival.


This year’s Memorial Tournament will implement and execute protocols to allow for a limited number of patrons to be permitted on property each day of the Tournament. Please note that all patrons must have a ticket to gain admission onto the Tournament grounds, including children aged 18 and under. Additionally, please be advised that Junior Tickets will not be issued at Tournament entrance gates and military and first responder ticket vouchers will not be honored for the week of July 14–19. We look forward to the return of these programs in 2021 and thank you for your support and understanding as we strive to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all who will be on site for the 45th Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide.

Golf Course

The Tournament will implement and enforce protocols and regulations that will ensure that spectators can navigate the over two million sq. ft. of open space on the property and maintain the required social distancing measures.

  • Limited Attendance: The 2020 Memorial Tournament will implement and execute protocols to allow for limited attendance permitted on property each day, encompassing patrons and private venues, as well as everyone required to operate the Tournament.
  • Corridors: Within each hole there will be designated one-way corridors allowing attendees to navigate the holes while reducing/eliminating walking confluence.
  • Corrals: Within each hole there will exist designated sitting or standing corrals through which, a pre-determined number of attendees will be permitted to watch the competition. Each corral will be marked with a maximum number of attendees and will be monitored.
  • Attendee Assistance: A volunteer corps will be assigned to walk within the competition ropes, through proper social distance from the players and the attendees, with the purpose of reminding guests to separate. Each will be equipped with a handheld paddle that will read “Be Smart, Stand Apart”.
  • Bleachers: All on-site bleachers have been eliminated for the 2020 Tournament

On Course Protection Protocols

  • Sanitizers: Hand sanitizer “mini-bottles” will be provided for all staff and volunteers to utilize throughout the week. Attending individuals will be encouraged to bring their own “mini-bottle” of hand sanitizer. Stationary hand sanitizer units will be placed throughout the golf course at the entrances, restroom and concession locations.
  • Sterilization: All venues and equipment will include a sterilization protocol that will ensure all public areas and areas managed by staff are routinely
    cleaned throughout week. Methods of sanitizing will include wiping down all surfaces and fogging all area venues.
  • Hand Washing Stations: All staff and patrons will be reminded to routinely wash their hands throughout the property.
  • Credential Readers: All guests will be provided credentials that include implanted, active RFID tags. Admission locations will be activated to allow for spectators to walk through the admission locations without having to interact with attendants.
  • Social Distancing (Be Smart, Stand Apart): At all points of entry and all points of commerce (merchandise and concessions) attending patrons will be required to maintain the social separation recommended by the State at the time of tournament week. Throughout the course patrons will be reminded to remain apart from each other unless they are family members.
  • Credential Monitoring: All Memorial credentials (referred to later in document) are equipped with RFID tags which will allow for all on-site venues/restaurants and more popular gathering areas to be monitored with a maximum capacity level implemented and enforced.
  • Testing: Although it is recognized testing is not widely available at the printing of this document the Memorial is committed to incorporate testing protocol for its constituents (i.e. staff, volunteers, vendors, attendees) if testing becomes available for wide distribution and results can be delivered through quick processing.
  • No Autographs: There is a strict no autograph policy in place for the 2020 Memorial Tournament. For the safety of spectators and competitors alike, autographs will not be permitted. Note: All players will be advised not to interact with fans or sign autographs.
  • Cashless Point of Sale (POS): All payment for on course concessions and retail will be conducted through credit card, no cash will be exchanged on property. Credit card payment will be applied through customer swipe or tap.

Concessions & Retail

  • Venues: All on-site concession and retail venues will be assigned a capacity limit in accordance with State, County and City guidelines.

    • Golf Shop locations: There is one on course Golf Shop location for the 2020 Memorial Tournament. It is located in the Clubhouse with access near the first tee box and adjacent to the main putting green.
  • Staffing: All staff will be required to abide by the required protection guidelines and will be provided individual protection kits (i.e. masks, gloves, shields).
  • Food Preparation: Food preparation will meet public health guidelines.
  • Food Service: Food will be served individually - à la carte, all buffet service will be eliminated.
  • Beverage Service: Beverage service will follow public health guidelines with intention to serve package product (i.e. cans, plastic bottles) instead of traditional draft and fountain.
  • Distribution Points: All food, beverage and merchandise distribution will be conducted through a process that includes the service attendant wearing issued protection and through a plexiglass barrier.
  • Cashless Point of Sale (POS): All payment for on course concessions conducted through credit card, no cash will be exchanged on property. Credit card payment will be applied through customer swipe or tap.
  • Spacing: All venues will operate with the proper spacing protocols in place.
  • Ingress/Egress: Implement a plan for one-way access and routing patterns within all on-site venues.


Through the over 100 acres of owned parking space and limited attendance, guests will be provided the ability to park their own vehicles and walk to the tournament venue.

  • Public Shuttles: The Memorial has eliminated all general public shuttle transport for the 2020 Tournament.

Disabled Shuttle Services

Disabled parking will be provided consistent with past years with proper protocols in place to ensure shuttle transport as well as on-site transport and designated viewing areas around the course. Please visit the On-Course Disabled Services page for more information.
