Olympic gold medalist Justin Rose joins World Golf Hall of Fame member Phil Mickelson and major champion Louis Oosthuizen to compete in the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide
Field to include 13 past winners of the Memorial
Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that Olympic gold medalist Justin Rose, World Golf Hall of Fame member Phil Mickelson and major champion Louis Oosthuizen have officially committed to compete in the 43rd edition of the Memorial Tournament, being played May 28 – June 3 at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Including Rose, who won the Memorial Tournament in 2010, there are 13 past Memorial winners committed to next week’s event at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Five-time winner Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar and Jason Dufner, the 2017 winner, were previously announced. Others include, K.J. Choi, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, David Lingmerth, Hideki Matsuyama, William McGirt, three-time winner Kenny Perry, Carl Pettersson and Vijay Singh.
The field now boasts eight of the top-10 from the Official World Golf Ranking: No. 1 Justin Thomas, No. 2 Dustin Johnson, No. 3 Jordan Spieth, No. 5 Rose, No. 6 Rickie Fowler, No. 7 Jason Day, No. 8 Rory McIlroy and No. 9 Matsuyama.
Rose, 37, will make his 12th start at this year’s Memorial, where he is ranked fourth on the Tournament’s career money list with $2,868,220, and 10th in scoring average with 70.92. His playoff loss to David Lingmerth in 2015 was his sixth top-10 finish at Muirfield Village Golf Club. In the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Rose became the first gold medalist in golf in the Olympics since 1904. A resident of London, England, Rose is No. 11 in FedExCup points on strength of four top-10 finishes in nine starts this season, including his eighth career PGA TOUR victory at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions. The 2010 Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide and the 2013 U.S. Open Championship are among his other wins on TOUR since turning professional in 1998. His career PGA TOUR earnings total $44,147,759.
Mickelson, 47, has teed it up at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide 17 times. His first appearance came in 1991 as an amateur when he finished tied for 66th place. In his last 12 starts at the Memorial, dating to 1999, Mickelson has finished in the top-20 seven times. His best finish was a T-4 outing in 2006. He withdrew due to injuries in 2007 and 2012 and finished T-22 last year with rounds of 70-70-72-73. His Memorial Tournament career earnings total $1,039,170.19 with a scoring average of 71.49. The World Golf Hall of Fame member and five-time major champion has been a member of a record 12 U.S. Presidents Cup teams and 11 U.S. Ryder Cup teams. Through 13 starts in the 2017-2018 season the Rancho Santa Fe, California, resident has recorded six top-10 finishes, including a win at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship, a T-2 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and a T-3 at the Safeway Open. Mickelson is currently ranked No. 18 in the Official World Golf Ranking and No. 3 in FedExCup standings. On the strength of 43 career PGA TOUR titles he is ranked No. 2 in career earnings on the PGA TOUR with $87,225,538.
Oosthuizen will be making his first appearance at Muirfield Village Golf Club since competing as a member of the International Presidents Cup team in 2013. The previous year he made his lone Memorial Tournament start but missed the cut after rounds of 75 and 80. The 35-year-old South African has recorded 12 international victories, including the 2010 Open Championship at St. Andrews, and is ranked No. 36 in the world and No. 90 in FedExCup points. In nine starts this season on the PGA TOUR, Oosthuizen has captured two top-10 finishes, a T-9 outing at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play and a third-place effort at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. His career PGA TOUR earnings total $16,614,235.

Kids 18 and under can attend for free with a ticketed adult. Full-week badges remain available through Friday, May 25. Daily practice round tickets for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are also available. The cost is $35 and they are valid for all three practice-round days. Daily practice round tickets can be purchased online or at all public Tournament gates (cash only at gates) Monday – Wednesday (May 28-30).
