Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth, Ludvig Åberg, Tony Finau and Rickie Fowler join field at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday
DUBLIN, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday announced today that the Tournament has accepted the entries of 2024 Memorial winner Viktor Hovland, major champion Jordan Spieth, rising star Ludvig Åberg, and fan favorites Tony Finau and Rickie Fowler to compete in the 50th playing of the official PGA TOUR Signature Event founded and hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is May 26–June 1 at world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Hovland, 27, added his seventh PGA TOUR victory this season at the Valspar Championship since turning professional in 2019. He is currently ranked No. 12 in the world and 34th in FedExCup points. Hovland became the first Norwegian to win on TOUR when he secured his first professional victory at the 2020 Puerto Rico Open. The 2018 U.S. Amateur champion enjoyed a career-best season on the PGA TOUR in 2022-2023 that included nine top-10s, with three wins and one runner-up finish over 23 starts. After defeating Denny McCarthy in a playoff at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Hovland capped off his finest season with back-to-back wins in the final two FedExCup Playoff events, the BMW Championship and TOUR Championship to claim the FedExCup trophy. This will be Hovland’s sixth start at the Memorial Tournament where his earnings total $4,008,608 (ranked No. 4) to go with a 72.60 career scoring average. He finished T-15 last year for his second top-20 result at the Memorial.
Spieth, 31, has recorded eight top-20 finishes in 12 starts at the Memorial Tournament, including five of his last six. His Tournament scoring average is 71.36 with earnings of $2,122,028.77. Spieth’s best finish at Muirfield Village Golf Club was a T-3 in 2015 as part of his historic five-win PGA TOUR season that featured 15 top-10s, four runner-up finishes, his first two major titles at the Masters Tournament and 115th U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, and the FedExCup title. He finished inside the top-5 in all four major championships in 2015 with a solo second-place effort at the PGA Championship and T-4 at The Open Championship. Spieth captured his third major during the 2016-17 season at the 146th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, and his 13th PGA TOUR title at the 2022 RBC Heritage. The Dallas native is ranked No. 49 in FedExCup points and No. 51 in the world with three top-10 finishes this season.
Åberg, 25, burst onto the professional golf scene in 2023 after finishing No. 1 in that year’s PGA TOUR University Class and officially joining the TOUR following the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship and receiving the 2023 Jack Nicklaus Award presented by Workday as the Division I national collegiate Player of the Year. Åberg competed in 11 events during his rookie campaign and collected eight top-25s, four inside the top-10, one runner-up and his first career PGA TOUR victory at The RSM Classic. The Swedish native continued his inspired play in 2024, collecting eight top-10s over 20 starts, including three second-place finishes at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Masters Tournament, and BMW Championship. He is ranked No. 6 in the world and 9th in FedExCup points on the strength of three top-10 finishes this season over 11 starts, including his second TOUR title with a victory at The Genesis Invitational. Åberg’s claimed at T-5 finish in his 2024 Memorial Tournament debut.
Finau, 35, will make his ninth appearance at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. He has recorded five top-20 finishes at Muirfield Village Golf Club, including three inside the top-10¾all eight-place finishes, a result he matched last year. His Tournament scoring average sits at 71.13 with career earnings of $1,434,142.67. The Utah native, now living in Scottsdale, Arizona, has collected five top-25 finishes over 13 starts this season, a T-5 at The Genesis Invitational best among them. Finau owns six PGA TOUR titles after back-to-back multi-win seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and 11 career runner-up finishes since joining the TOUR in 2015. Finau has earned 10 top-10s in major championships, his best result a third place on two occasions, the 2024 U.S. Open and The Open Championship in 2019. He has been a member of three U.S. Presidents Cup teams (2019, 2022, 2024) and two U.S. Ryder Cup teams (2018, 2020).
Fowler, 36, enjoyed one of his most successful seasons in his 16-year professional career in 2022-2023. His eight top-10 finishes, which included his sixth PGA TOUR victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and a runner-up performance at the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP, led to more than $7.8 million in earnings and a No. 16 finish in the final FedExCup standings. The California native will make his 16th consecutive start at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, where he has collected seven top-25 finishes, including four top-10s. He tied his best result with a T-2 effort in 2017, after claiming solo second place in his first Tournament appearance in 2010. His career earnings at Muirfield Village Golf Club amount to $2,711,489 and his scoring average is 71.68. The Oklahoma State Cowboy’s career highlights include victory in THE PLAYERS Championship in 2015, three U.S. Presidents Cup team appearances (2015, 2017, 2019), and five U.S. Ryder Cup team appearances (2010, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2023).
Before the 72-hole stroke-play competition begins on Thursday, May 29, fans will be treated to a full slate of events scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, beginning with the Workday Golden Bear Pro-Am, the official pro-am of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. This event, which begins at 7 a.m. EDT, will feature the top players from the Tournament’s field of competitors and also serve to highlight the Memorial’s annual Golden Cubs program.
The Golden Cubs Program is designed to honor and celebrate courageous youth dealing with challenging circumstantial, physical, mental and medical conditions. Eight Golden Cubs will take center stage on Wednesday during the Workday Golden Bear Pro-Am as they meet PGA TOUR professionals and enjoy a full morning of VIP Tournament experiences.
These inspiring children will also have the opportunity to meet special guests, including Workday Brand Ambassadors and NFL legends Larry Fitzgerald and Peyton Manning, along with former LPGA star Michelle Wie West. Also joining the Pro-Am field is four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry, who with his wife Ayesha is co-founder of the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation., a charitable beneficiary of the Memorial Tournament. Additionally, two-time GRAMMY nominated, Multi-Platinum Certified, singer and songwriter Noah Kahan will play in the Golden Bear Pro-Am. Kahan’s philanthropic vision aligns with the Memorial Tournament’s charitable partners Kids Mental Health Foundation, founded by Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. His mental health initiative, The Busyhead Project, has raised over $4 million to date to expand access to mental healthcare and fight the stigma around mental health.
Wednesday’s schedule also includes Salute to Service Day¾honoring military members, veterans and first responders; Junior Golf Day – featuring a course treasure map, kids autograph zone, complimentary access for high school golf program athletes, and more; the Memorial Honoree Ceremony featuring 2025 Tournament Honoree Barbara Nicklaus on the driving range at 1:30 p.m.; and the Tournament Tailgate in the Champions Pavilion at 3:30 p.m. – open to all ticket holders and featuring live music, local sports celebrities, PGA TOUR professionals and more.

Children 15 and under can attend the Tournament for free with a ticketed adult. Daily practice round tickets for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are also available. The cost is $60, and they are valid for all three practice-round days.
